Solar canopies provide sheltered trading space while producing electricity above it. The city uses them where a roof and an active market can share the same structure. Merchants get protection from rain and sun, customers can shop under cover and the panels contribute to local power. Repairs have to be scheduled around the people earning their living underneath.
The useful result depends on the whole structure, including columns, mounts and service access. A canopy must remain accessible for maintenance without making every repair a disruption to the market below. Traders may need to move or shorten a trading period when work is underway.
The market also depends on deliveries from farms, the fishery and storage businesses. Reusable insulated boxes carry perishable food through those connections. Independent synths can take work moving deliveries while merchants handle customers and stock. The roof makes that trade easier, but it doesn't replace the rest of the food or power system.
