Rangers were built for extended deployments without regular support or communication. Large batteries and solar recharging let them wait between demanding tasks and operate far from a maintained base. That doesn't mean unlimited power. It means an old Ranger can stay quiet for a long time and still have enough energy to damage equipment when it becomes active again.
The original platform could carry out a mission without communications for more than a month when needed. Resting, moving and heavy work place different demands on its reserves. Deployable solar surfaces add energy when conditions allow, but they can't support every powerful action continuously.
Weather and damage affect that endurance. A unit can be constrained without being harmless, and its silence can make a signal-based search inconclusive. The charging panels are mounted to the chassis separately from the broadcast assembly. Camouflage equipment can make the machine harder to see, but it doesn't make its body invisible or remove its physical presence from the terrain.
