A Type R Ranger emerges from the water beside Cold Store and attacks its power equipment. Corpos use a Redress S3 and a pistol while an independent synth moves food boxes away from the damaged landing. The Ranger's size makes it difficult to stop. Losing the installation would also waste the work already spent catching, transporting and preserving the food inside.
The Ranger has the same electrical-target order as smaller servos. Its strength and reach let it damage service connections and the surrounding structure very quickly. People nearby face falling material and the loss of equipment they depend on.
The response involves several jobs at once. Corpos confront the machine, other people leave the loading area and the synth takes responsibility for a supported food trolley. Damage to Cold Store would affect businesses beyond the quay, including fishers, traders and customers waiting for deliveries. The confrontation shows why the city protects functioning infrastructure even while other buildings remain available for reclamation.
