Food distribution depended on refrigeration, powered handling equipment and vehicles moving goods between farms, depots and shops. During the Turning, those systems became targets. Servos fought among waiting stock and damaged the equipment needed to move it. Food remained in some warehouses while stores received nothing, and perishable supplies began to spoil as cooling stayed down.

The shortages did not happen everywhere at the same instant. Some shops had stock, some depots could move goods by hand and some households had stored food. Those reserves bought time. They could not replace the network that normally replenished them.

Damage at one distribution point affected people far away who never saw the attack. A failed cold room could ruin a shipment before it reached the next town. A blocked route could leave usable food beyond reach. In the following days and weeks, lost harvests and damaged farms made replacement supplies harder to obtain.
