Successful contact from a Latch L1 can latch an old servo's control unit into shutdown. That hold continues after a disruption trap's temporary pulse has ended. The body can then remain inactive for recovery and assessment. Its broadcast hardware is still present, so shutdown is a separate step from the conversion that will make it an independent synth.
The lance was built to interact with the Old World's physical service point. Its short contact head produces a localized effect rather than a projected energy weapon. The Stillpoint kit can provide a brief interruption, but the completed lance contact is what gives the recovery a longer hold.
The machine still needs physical isolation, restraints and examination before anybody knows its full condition. Dark lights do not answer every question about damage or stored energy. At SynthWorks, staff assess what arrived and remove the network-control hardware as part of conversion. A successful shutdown preserves that possibility without completing the whole job in the field.
